Children's Kit The SAMHSA/CSAP Children's Program Kit gives treatment providers and others the benefits of years of research and hands-on experience by NACoA and others in helping COAs and their families.

The kit includes:

  • Multi-age curriculum of educational activities
  • Research-based tools to reach out to COAs
  • Dynamic videos to illustrate concepts
  • Program manual including start-up instructions and resources

Who is this for?

The Children's Program Kit is a valuable resource for treatment providers and prevention centers that aim to help children make sense of what they've been experiencing, cope with the stresses of their families' problems, and strengthen their potential for resilience.

Watch a two-minute promotional video about the kit.

Why is this necessary?

Research sponsored by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) has estimated that one in four children in the United States is exposed to alcohol abuse or alcohol dependence in the family, with still more living in homes where there is illicit drug abuse. With the help of caring adults and supportive programs, these children of addicted parents (COAs) can and often do overcome the effects of their home life.
