4/3/2002

Sponsor:

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT)

Host: Dennis Wholey, of the PBS show This Is America with Dennis Wholey and author of The Courage to Change

This is the first installment in a seven-part series of Webcasts that will discuss and illuminate key issues related to the 2002 Recovery Month observance. Throughout April-Alcohol Awareness Month-individuals, organizations and communities will be engaging in activities to raise awareness about alcohol abuse and the disease of alcoholism. This observance, sponsored by the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, will encourage and support grassroots and professional efforts to highlight the fact that alcoholism is a treatable and preventable disease and that family members need help, too. The Webcast will explore this year's Alcohol Awareness Month theme: Recovery-It's a Family Affair and Everyone's Invited and highlight other significant events, like National Alcohol Screening Day, scheduled for April 11, 2002.
